And now we are at the end of this lesson about the Live Paint tool. And you can easily color them without having to worry about closing those paths. The Live Paint tool is really cool when you have a sketch, and most of your shapes are open paths. And here are some other shapes I have colored in. Just make sure when you hover over the shape that you want to color that the shape is highlighted with the red stroke before you click. We turn them into a Live Paint group, then we select the Live Paint Bucket and then we color away. One side black and the other side a charcoal. And look, now the eye is getting colored in. I already had turned the stroke into a path before. And then we click to make it into a Live Paint group, and then start coloring. And then we pick the Live Paint Bucket tool. Isn't this neat? Let me show you how we can use this on other drawings of the line illustration. And I can even select a gradient that I have placed into the Swatch panel, and apply it to the shapes. I can select some brown and beige colors from the Swatch panel and fill the shapes. And in the pop-up we can change the gap detection from small gaps, to medium, large, or custom gaps. You can find those options under Object > Live Paint > Gap Options. If the gaps are too big though, you might have to change some settings. The Live Paint tool will recognize gaps and still treat it as a closed shape anyway. And the shapes do not have to be closed either. And if I take the Live Paint Bucket and hover over the shapes, it highlights them again, and I can fill them with color. Even if I deselect all the shapes, it's still remembered as a Live Paint group. And then when we select the color from the Swatch panel, we can start coloring the shapes. And now when we hover over a part of the object we want to color we can see how the Live Paint Bucket highlights it with a thicker red stroke. And then we select the Live Paint Bucket. When we select the shapes, go to Object > Live Paint > Make. And then we can apply color to the shapes. Now we can make the shapes into a Live Paint group without losing any of the attributes. See when I hover over the shapes now, I can see that all my strokes are now paths. And to do that we will go to Object > Path > Outline Stroke. We need to convert the brush strokes into a path. In order to keep the brush attributes, we need to do following. Now we have a Live Paint group, but my stroke or paintbrush attributes disappeared. And now we are presented with a pop up saying, complex visual appearance attributes such as brushes, live effects, transparency, and stroke, alignment options may be lost when converting to a Live Paint group. So let's click on the shapes with the Live Paint Bucket tool. So we have two ways to do that, either we will click on the selection with the Live Paint Bucket or we go to Object > Live Paint > Make. Anytime we want to color with the Live Paint tool, we need to convert a group of shapes or a shape into a Live Paint group. So when we select the shapes we want to color, and then we select the Live Paint Bucket tool and then hover over the selected shapes, I will see a notification saying Click to make Live Paint group. I have to do one step before I can use the Live Paint tool. Now since I created the paw with the paintbrush tool and I used a different brush definition, you can see this up here in the Control panel and therefore the attributes of the brush stroke is different to the default. It is located underneath the shape builder tool, so let's separate the panel. Now the Live Paint tool we can find here in the Tool panel. So with the selection tool, I will draw a rectangle around the shapes of the paw to select them. First we have to select the shapes we want to color. Now let me show you how this tool can be used. And we don't have to select the shape at all in order to fill it. What is so special about the Live Paint tool is that we can fill shapes that are not closed. Now this is where the Live Paint tool comes really handy. The path is now closed and the fill sort of creates a line from one endpoint to the other. Now, if we were to fill one of those shapes, like this one for example, and then select the color, you can see that some weird things happen. And as you see, most of the lines and shapes are not closed. I created the paw with the paintbrush tool. And as you can see we have a paw, the lion's nose, and mouth shapes, that still do not have any color applied. I created several shapes and objects for us to demonstrate the Live Paint tool on. Let's open up Adobe Illustrator in the exercise file called Live Paint Tool in your source file folder. #Adobe illustrator paint bucket how to#In this lesson we will learn how to use the Live Paint tool to color parts of our illustration. Tier 9 is the final tier, so fittingly these Pickaxes can mine everything in the game, in addition to the lihzahrd bricks found in the Jungle Temple. Tier 8 Pickaxes can mine chlorophyte ore, the green ore from the Jungle that is required for a lot of endgame crafting recipes. Tier 7 Pickaxes can mine adamantite and titanium. Tier 6 Pickaxes can mine mythril and orichalcum ore. Viral Meteorite Ore will spread to normal Meteorite, similar to how Chlorophyte spreads to Mud, without the limit of how much can generate in a small area. The Platinum Pickaxe can also be used to mine Meteorite Ore and Demonite Ore. You must have a pickaxe with at least the same Mining Power as a Nightmare or Deathbringer Pickaxe in order to mine the Viral Meteorite Ore. Like all pickaxes, it is used to mine a majority of blocks and ores. Tier 5 is the first tier you get upon entering Hardmode, which means you can mine cobalt and palladium. Can a platinum pickaxe mine meteorite The Platinum Pickaxe is a type of pickaxe, being one tier above the Gold Pickaxe and one tier below the Nightmare Pickaxe. Tier 4 Pickaxes can mine hellstone, obsidian, ebonstone blocks, crimstone blocks, fossils, and dungeon bricks. #METEORITE PICKAXE HOW TO#Related | How to Get a Glass Kiln in Terraria Tier 3 Pickaxes can mine crimtane and demonite ore. You can mine dirt, sand, clay, mud, silt, ash, snow, slush, hardened sand, spikes, wooden spikes, stone, ebonsand, gold, and regular bricks with the Pickaxes from this tier. Today, we’ll show you what the different Pickaxe tiers are in Terraria! What are the Different Pickaxe Tiers in Terraria? Higher Pickaxe Power also means faster mining, so you’ll always want the strongest Pickaxe. There are many Pickaxes to choose from, and the main attribute you want to look out for is Pickaxe Power, which determines what kind of blocks the Pickaxe can break. In Terraria, you’ll need your trusty Pickaxe to dig through the world. It’s nice that it gives subtle clues at first rather than outright telling you what to do, so deciphering what these messages mean can sometimes be a mini-puzzle in itself. It’s a clever idea, taking the form of a printer on the wall that dispenses polaroid-like images that nudge you in the right direction. Most puzzles aren’t overly tricky to solve, but I still found myself relying on the built-in hint system a number of times in a few particular rooms. Escape simulator the top windows#You can even break the glass panes of most windows and cabinets for no purpose other than to let off steam, and it’s little extra details like these – that have nothing to do with the solutions – that give the rooms a palpable sense of life.Īnd speaking of solutions, they’re genuinely satisfying to discover. The first few times I shattered a coffee cup against the ship’s wall and watched its pieces slowly spin in every direction was pretty spectacular. While used sparingly, those antigravity effects are a visually striking touch. Physics play a role in many puzzles, whether that means smashing a vase open to get to a key within, or turning the gravity back on so you can advance through the space station’s corridors. Escape simulator the top code#Only once did I have to reset a room due to losing an item, during a rare instance where the game couldn’t retrieve a code book I threw out a third-story window, but really – that’s on me. I accidentally did this several times, and they almost always respawned in the center of the room afterwards. And while you can toss any item to your heart’s content, the game is thankfully forgiving when it comes to chucking key items out of the play area. Many objects (including plenty of red herrings) can be dragged, rotated, picked up, and even thrown across the room for dramatic effect. There’s loads of interactivity to be found in these small but densely packed spaces. Music is pleasant and unique to each locale, never feeling out of place or obtrusive. The space station levels focus on using computers and repairing damaged systems, while the tomb levels involve a lot of object placement riddles and some language decoding. Each environment wraps its objectives around a general puzzle theme. The graphics eschew photorealism to opt for a cozy-feeling “grounded cartoon” aesthetic instead. The official levels are well-designed and look great. This already features well over 1,500 community-made escape rooms, with a handful newly published every day. Escape simulator the top free#Several of these levels were added post-launch in free updates (with more expected to come), but what really gives the game longevity is its Steam workshop integration. You can expect roughly 5 to 6 hours of playtime from these, assuming you manage to beat the optional room timers. The emphasis on hidden switches, object placement and code deciphering reminded me of Safecracker and The Room series, but Escape Simulator’s great co-op gameplay and incredible level editor put it squarely into its own category.Īs of the time of this writing, the game packs in 21 official levels across 5 themes: an Egyptian tomb, a space station, a Victorian mansion, a high-tech office, and Santa’s workshop. It’s a well-made first-person 3D adventure with all narrative frills removed – albeit with plenty of atmosphere – making it a puzzle fanatic’s dream. You’ll find no story, characters, or dialogue trees whatsoever. Like most actual escape rooms, Escape Simulator is all about puzzles. It’s fortunate, then, that we still have access to games like Pine Studio’s Escape Simulator, which builds on the familiar single-player experience with an optional focus on cooperative gameplay in a way that mimics the real-life activity. The claustrophobic sense of immersion and emphasis on teamwork offered participants a unique experience until the pandemic caused a year-long shutdown of most of these in-person operations, with some shuttering their doors forever. It’s a hands-on approach to classic adventure game problem-solving, except in a real physical place rather than a virtual one. The premise is novel: visitors are locked in an elaborate room and must work together in solving puzzles to get out. Inspired by the “find a way out” videogame subgenre, this thriving industry took the world by storm and permeated pop culture. The past ten years have arguably been the decade of the escape room. If your email is long and a user has scrolled all the way through your content, make sure they have easy access to another call to action without having to scroll all the way back to the top of your email. This way you aren't forcing anybody to wade through longer content except those who are actively working their way through your email. Provide the shortest and punchiest information first, and then include your longer-form content underneath. These scenarios are all very different, but it's easy to cater to everyone by sticking to a logical hierarchy. Some will be 'on the go' and between important meetings, others may be extremely bored in a dentist's waiting room, and I'm very sorry to tell you that others still will be on the toilet. People read email in all kinds of different scenarios. If you are in the business of sending longer content that your readers enjoy, I am definitely not saying that there is no place for it in email marketing. Try this! Short punchy sentences with obvious buttons. Use clear headings and call out key concepts in bold type so that your scanning readers can get the gist, even if they don't read everything (which most of them won't). Text should appear in clear, delineated chunks that get to the point. Make It Scannableĭesign your email to be punchy. Try this! Short and punchy bites, with clear calls to action. Your aim with marketing email is to get people to click through to your website, so there is no need to delay that with a lengthy monologue, especially as a lengthy-looking email is going to overwhelm your readers with mental fatigue and make them more likely to hit "Delete". Your recipients will scan the email for things that interest them rather than reading the whole email, so divide it into bite-sized pieces which are as short as possible. #Mail designer pro tutorial freeFor example, “Start using your new account” or “Claim your free trial”. The best buttons combine the benefit of clicking through with the action itself. Try not to have too many links close together, which may cause a user to accidentally tap the wrong one.Ībout 50% of opens are on touch devices these days, so avoid language that doesn’t make sense, such as "click here".ĭon't hesitate to add an arrow-studies have shown that they are more effective-but, as always, test on your own subscribers. If you also wish to have text links within your copy, ensure they're bold and in a contrasting colour so they stand out. On mobile, make them 100% of the width so that they can easily be tapped with either thumb (no reaching required). Make Your Links ObviousĬreate nice, big, easily clickable and tappable buttons for your links. Emails are small and they're opened for a very brief period of time, so the function of every element needs to be crystal clear. It may seem boring, but being conventional really comes in handy with email. Try this! Clear and obvious sender name, subject line, logo and opening content. Make sure your sender name, subject line, preheader, and your 'above the fold' content is all meaningful and relevant to your reason for contacting your readers. This means as soon as your email is opened, your intentions and identity are clear, and your proposition won't be overlooked. Have all of this as close to the top of the email as you can get it. Tell your readers who you are, exactly why you're emailing them, and exactly what they're going to get out of the experience. This will just confuse your readers and make them more likely to delete your email or mark it as junk. Avoid using puzzling or cryptic sender names, subject lines, preheaders or copy. As always with email, test anything new and see how it performs to determine what's best for your subscribers. Some of the suggestions that I'm going to make won't apply to every list, company or product. The underlying principles are all about respecting your readers by giving them something valuable in return for their time which is, after all, the reason they signed up to hear from you in the first place. You only get one shot, so it's worth employing as many tricks in the book as possible to make sure your message gets through. Designing for email is about getting to the point and making the most of the brief chance you have with your subscribers.
Shipyard doesn't offer many features that make it stand out from the other web-based GUIs. #Docker kitematic windows plusYou'll see details about the container, plus buttons to stop, start, destroy, and debug the container. Start the sample application and then click on the WordPress container. Start it running with this one command that handles multiple operating systems: curl -s | bash -s With a similar set of features to the other web-based GUIs mentioned in this article, Shipyard provides an interface to your containers, images, and Docker instances. It also provides a search field to look for particular images or containers across all those clusters. If you click the pencil icon next to the current cluster address, you will notice that you can add more, making Dockstation useful for managing more than one cluster in the same interface. The application is in its early days with interface quirks ( eg, after creating the project, the containers don't actually start automatically) and lots of typos, but it has a couple of useful extra features that aren't obvious. You first create your project and set a docker-compose.yml file or a docker run command that starts your application. #Docker kitematic windows free!Sign up for a free Codeship Account Dockstationĭockstation is another 'native' (well, Electron-based) application that looks a lot like Kitematic, but works from a different, 'project' perspective. I'm not 100 percent sure how useful they are when compared to the standard Docker options, but from within the access control of Portainer, you might find them useful. TemplatesĪpp templates add a level on top of Dockerfiles and Compose files in a custom JSON format and allow you to create a Docker application using all the standard and custom functionality that Portainer offers. The screenshot below shows restricting access to the Portainer container to a certain user and role. Portainer adds user management that lets you define the levels of access team members have to Portainer, and what aspects of Docker they can manage from within Portainer. For remote clusters, you can also jump straight into a console straight in the browser. Helpfully, the overview page includes basic logging and monitoring features, giving an easy overview for troubleshooting. Here's the example application visualized in Portainer, and the overview page for the WordPress container. Portainer covers most major areas of Docker you would want to interact with, offering creation, editing, management, monitoring and deletion of containers, as well as the ability to add, remove, and view images, networks, and volumes, but not edit them. Portainer makes wide use of the Docker API to handle its interactions and monitoring, but for automation, also exposes its own API and template file format. #Docker kitematic windows passwordAfter creating a password and selecting the Docker instance to manage, you're up and running. The -v flag isn't mentioned by default, but you will need it to manage any local Docker containers. #Docker kitematic windows installYou can install and start it with: docker run -d -p 9000:9000 -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock portainer/portainer Portainer(formerly UI for Docker) is a free open-source web application that runs as a container itself. I have found it a great way to learn Docker you can create containers visually and then dig into the possible configuration options and understand what they are and do. ]Īs it's bundled by default, it's a great way to get started with simple Docker applications and provides a convenient way to browse images on the Docker Hub or your account. Sadly, it has changed little since the acquisition, and it has remained in a permanent beta. When Kitematic first emerged, it was one of the few GUI options available, and when Docker acquired the project in October 2015, I had high hopes for its development. I won't cover it in much detail as you likely know it well already. #Docker kitematic windows for macKitematic is the default GUI that ships with Docker for Mac and Windows. I will use the WordPress Docker Compose example to test each of these options, as it has multiple containers, sets up links and networks between them, and is sufficiently complex for an example. I am a fan of graphical user interfaces and thought it was time to survey the current landscape of GUIs for interacting with Docker. The Docker API has allowed for a plethora of options for interfacing with Docker, your containers, and images to emerge from CLIs to desktop applications and web-based management tools.
